I have a few pieces of Royal Copenhagen that I am listing – the backstamp of one is in attached pic. My only doubts with saying mine are is that I am wondering why they do not give a backmark for ?? I agree – mine does look new in comparison; mine is in lovely condition – was collected by a friend yrs ago. Have attached photo of the same backmark on a saucer which looks as though has had a little more wear.

This attachment is of the 22cm plate – I have another with same backstamp but different painter. I’ll attach a pic of the saucer next. The pattern is Blue Fluted Plain for the plates at least; the saucer has a gold rim so might be called something else. Thanks for your interest – I had been going cross eyed trying to decide the dates by various searches and was wanting to bounce it off someone else.

It could simply be that they no longer bother to date mark their dinner ware – such as Blue Fluted – your pattern. I can’t see any of the dots or slashes that were used to date this backstamp up to – but then I can’t find anything on the Internet for marks onwards – so perhaps they stopped marking then? For pieces in good condition that were not made in Thailand as RC is now – have no idea if they still make Blue Fluted it probably does not matter much – it is after all useful ware.

Since it was introduced in as the Royal Porcelain Manufactory, Danish porcelain with its blue-on-white decorations has never lost its appeal. The blue fluted pattern has never stopped being made using floral variations. Glazes on the early pieces had a slight bluish-green tinge. Kaolin, an important ingredient to the glaze, was imported beginning in from France. The result was a pure white glaze that identifies today’s pieces.

However, for a short time in the English blockade of France made it impossible for the Danish factory to acquire the Kaolin.

Royal Copenhagen, officially the Royal Porcelain Factory is a Danish manufacturer of porcelain products and was founded in Copenhagen in under the protection of Danish Dowager Queen Juliane Marie. It is recognized by its factory mark, the three wavy lines above each other, from porcelain, with the date inscribed, and has made one each year since.

Selling your Porcelain. I also buy items by many of the other manufacturers you see for sale on my website, including Wedgwood, Royal Doulton , Edna Hibel , Hummel, and others. I buy single items, complete collections, close-outs and dealer stocks. Most Danish figurines have a figurine number on the bottom; that, plus a brief description to avoid errors and misunderstandings is usually sufficient RC Boy.

Please include information about any damage, defects, or repairs; see below for more information on this subject. Please also include any other information that you think would be useful, such as age or how much you want for the item. A photo might help; a photo of a group or collection is probably sufficient. Prices of most collectibles have seen steep declines in the last few years, and my website is not always up to date, so there may need to be some adjustments to reflect current market conditions.

For Royal Copenhagen, it is usually a vertical scratch across the three wavy lines. For more common items, I prefer not to purchase factory seconds. Even then, I will pay substantially less than I would if the piece was perfect. In such cases, I may have to see the item before I can quote you a price.
